Using scraps to make cards

Published on 9 February 2024 at 09:00

Hello, my crafty friends!

I had some scraps left over from cards I made and realized I had not done a scrappy card recently.  I always have so much fun making cards with scraps!  So here is one for you to try.

Supplies:

Scraps of the Sale-a-bration Most Adored DSP

Real Red Cardstock

Flirty Flamingo Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Heart Punch (retired but any heart die will work)

Basic White Medium Envelope

Embellishments of choice (I happened to have a few from my heart faceted gems (retired) leftover and used this on my card.)

Stamp Set:  Heartfelt Hellos (Sale-a-bration stamp set)

Real Red Ink

Measurements for Scraps and Mats:

Card Base:  Real Red 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

Inside Mat:  Basic White 4" x 5 1/4"

Scrap DSP:

1 3/8" x 2 1/8"

2 3/8" x 2 1/8"

2 1/4" x 2 3/4"

1 3/8" x 1 3/8"

1 1/4" x 1 3/8"

Mats are 1/8" larger

1 1/2" x 2 1/4"

2 1/2" x 2 1/4"

2 1/2" x 2 7/8"

1 1/2" x 1 1/2"

1 3/8" x 1 1/2"

Cut/Punch 3 basic white hearts, one real red heart, and one flirty flamingo heart.  Stamp one basic white heart with greeting, then score all the hearts straight down the middle.  Glue all hearts together for a dimensional heart focal point.

DSP strip 1/2" x 5 1/4" for the inside of card

DSP 2 1/2" x 6" for the envelope flap

Add Embellishments

Add DSP to Envelope flap.

Happy Crafting!  I will be back on Monday with new content.

Love the way you used scraps for your Valentine card. Always nice to get fresh ideas on how to use things that we have on hand. Very nice!
