Lovely Lavender Jan 2024 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Published on 5 February 2024 at 09:00

This first image shows 2 card bases and a card front from the kit.  This is my jumping off point.  With these three pieces we can make seven cards.

If you want to make just the card kit as intended, that is fine too.  This month's kit makes 8 cards and 4 tags.  I just show you how to upgrade your kit so to speak, lol.

I had a friend whose first kit was boxes.  She expressed to me that she didn't want boxes; she wanted cards.  I said come to class and I will show you how to make cards out of those pieces.  She did just that and was delightfully surprised that we could get so many cards out of the kit.  (My dear friend, thank you so much for allowing me to become a part of your creative journey.)

Hello, my friends!  Today, I am going to walk you through how to get the most out of your monthly Paper Pumpkin Kit; and how to make sure you have the bits and pieces to stretch that kit.

This month I have (see picture 1)  more than tripled the kit by using one of each of the card bases and a card front shown in the picture.    If you would like to learn how to make fun, beautiful and unique cards like the one I post today, consider subscribing to Paper Pumpkin and attending my monthly class for card ideas.  All the measurements and layouts will be posted for class attendees.

One of the most important things to do when ordering your kit is to look at what the coordinating Stampin' Up! Colors are for the month.  Do you have a few of the coordinating cardstocks?  This will help you create incredible alternatives.  They are listed right here on my Paper Pumpkin Page monthly.  For this kit, the coordinating colors are Berry Burst, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock.  When I make my alternatives, you will see me bring in these coordinating colors.  Do you have extra Envelopes and Basic White Cardstock to make the additional cards?

Are there Coordinating Dies, Stamp Sets, DSP or embellishments?  This month's kit coordinates with Perennial Lavender DSP, the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems (162611), and the quarterly die set that will be released each quarter for Paper Pumpkin.  The Love of Spring Dies is the first Quarterly die set released for Paper Pumpkin in 2024.  In my Paper Pumpkin Alternatives class, I bring in all three of these products.

Lastly, there are refills for this kit available.  The refills do not include the stamp set and ink spot.   Lovely Lavender January 2024 Paper Pumpkin Refill.

My creative journey is to layout the pieces of the kit.  Generally, looking at the card bases first.  As soon as I saw the card bases, I knew I could double my cards from 8 to 16. (just by cutting the card bases in half and adding a card base of my choice.)  With this month's kit, I knew there was so much more!

In the pic (second pic), I have cut down my bases (first in half and then I cut strips (the first row pic 2) This will be what I use in my first alternative card today.  This picture shows eight cards, I made from ONE of each card bases and the card front.   Ready to see Alternative 1?

Here I am prepping all my pieces for my card.  I have brought in additional cardstock (additional supplies are provided in class fee to include the use of the tools):

Basic White Thick 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

Basic White 4" x 5 1/2"

Gorgeous Grape Cardstock:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Gorgeous Grape Cardstock:  3 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Gorgeous Grape scrap for die cutting label

DSP piece and envelope for decorating envelope

3 Strips of the card base from kit

Basic White label from kit

Garden Green leaf from kit

Lavender Sprig from kit.

Used the Softly sophisticated 3D embossing Folder

Here is what the card looks like when completed.  Keep in mind, you can add whatever sentiment you choose to use.  With the kit you can make four of this type of card and still have supplies to make the remaining seven cards I have made this month.

I absolutely love teaching people how to get the more out of their kits; I hope you will consider signing up for my next Paper Pumpkin Class.  I look forward to seeing you!

Until then, let the creative juices flow!
