Tips & Techniques Tuesday - It's a sticky situation

Published on 16 May 2023 at 09:00

Hello, my crafty friends; It is time for Technique Tuesday.  It is actually a glue technique that I haven't ever done before...so I gave it a try.  What you need is to prepare the panel at least a day ahead of when you want to do your cards.  So let's get sticky!

SUPPLIES:

BASIC WHITE CARDSTOCK

ELMERS GLUE (I do not advise using Tombow glue because when it dries it is still sticky like a post it note sticky)

ACRYLIC BLOCKS

SILICON MAT

INKS

BLENDING BRUSHES

PREP TIME

24 hours to let the glue dry on panel prior to adding ink.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Place a good amount of glue on your silicon/glass mat.  Press your acrylic block in the glue and apply it to cardstock panel.  Repeat until you have a decent amount of coverage.  Panels will curl a little but flatten as the glue dries.  Place them in a safe place to dry.  I currently have panels drying that I swirled glue on to give another look and will add to post once finished.

After the panels are dry (they will still feel sticky-at least mine did after 24 hours) Choose the ink colors you want to blend on the panels and blend away....the texture that appears is amazing! Below are four panels that I did using different sized acrylic blocks.  The texture and shine are wonderful!

After you have inked the panel you can run an embossing buddy over the panel to remove any stickiness left behind.  It does not change the color or the shininess of the panel.

I hope you will give this a try!  I had a blast creating different background panels for this technique.

Have a crafty day!

Laura
